Dolce & Gabbana: Actual men and Sicilians on their show in Milan
The Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Gabbana Steffano again surprise us with one of their shows. This time it’s offered in Men’s Fashion Week in Milan, where instead of models have preferred to go up to the real gateway to 73 men who had only one thing in common, all were from the Italian island of Sicily. Aged between 12 and 43, these Sicilians have walked the creations of Dolce & Gabbana by this gateway as authentic models.
Southern Italy is always present in the shows of Dolce & Gabbana, as we saw last September with her spring / summer 2012 where the bridge became a real party full of color that everyone remembered the festivities the people of the south.
Well this time it was in the men’s collection spring / summer 2013 to be presented these days in the Fashion Week in Milan, where Italian designers have once again made a nod to another region of their country. This time the choice has been the island of Sicily, whose spirit and flavor has invaded the parade from beginning to end.
And not just because the musicians were present, but because Dolce & Gabbana have trusted the presentation of his collection in unknown men, no international models as have other firms, such as Tom Ford again relying on Jon Kortajarena.
But Domenico Dolce and Gabbana Steffano have preferred to rely on actual 73 men aged 12 to 43 years to parade with their spring / summer 2013. Of course, neither was a model by profession, but were painters, waiters, barbers or students, but who can say they parade in one of the gateways in the world.
The explanation for this choice is simple in words Steffano Gabbana: “We wanted real men mostrasen our clothes because fashion should be for real people.” Now we can only wait and see whether in parades September womenswear will also do the same and real women up to the catwalk.
As for the fashion trends we have seen, highlights the contrast of white shirts with black pants high waist, but are by no means the only actors in this collection. The most colorful prints and drawings are full of embodied both in jackets, shirts or shorts, some of them quite in line and shorter, exposing toned legs of these real models.
How about this choice of Dolce & Gabbana? Do you think that will do the same with the female fashion and whether it would with the same eyes?
